A Night Out

Did you ever have an impromtu night out, and you went out, thinking it would be just like any other night, but it turned out to be a complete BLAST? I have a friend who always delivers on her promises of fun and laughter, and tonight we had another one of those nights. All we did was go out for dinner, and then for coffee at a small but swanky Portuguese cafe, but it was so much fun!
Sometimes being obnoxious can be so much fun! Not that I was, but watching it was just as amusing! :) I feel a change rippling through the universe. My friend, who is going through a nasty break-up is as much fun as she ever has been, optimistic when her world is falling apart... We can all learn something from people like this. God has given friends like this to us as precious gifts. I have to remind myself that every interaction we have on this earth is no coincidence. Each one was put in our paths to enrich our lives in a way that only we need it to. My thoughts are with this friend now, as she moves onto the next page in her book. I will miss her when she no longer lives beside me, knocking on my door at all hours, hugging me with such force after a night at the club that she knocks me backwards down onto the ground (ouch! - in a good way!), dancing the night away at the latino club in town, shaking her fist in the faces of gawking guys in my defence...

This rippling change I feel coming, seems to be affecting many people, not just me. It reminds me of our delicate network here on earth, and that each intereaction is meant to be meaningful, and make some kind of impact on our lives. So, the next time you bump into someone you have not seen for a while, or get a telephone call from a long lost relative, or just exchange a glance with someone across the room, think about what that interaction can mean. It might bring about some real insight that maybe you needed.

As for me and my friend, this interaction we've shared over the last 6 years will always have a special place in my heart. Her impact will always shine simple happiness and laughter into my world, and make ripples in my life for a long time to come. Hopefully, we can keep in touch as she moves on to bigger and better things. I don't think she knows how precious she has been to me, but I will be sure to let her know!

And the earth rumbles beneath our feet... Can you feel it?!?
